While engaging in their own personal projects and
causes, SIA members also participate in several
volunteer projects, charitable events, and
philanthropies. Some of these include, but are not
limited to, Cities’ Cares Day (a national day of
service that includes projects such as the
renovation of public schools and playgrounds in
metropolitan cities across America), AIDS Walk,
Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, Alzheimer's
Walk, Race for the Cure, MS Walk, and March of
Dimes.
We also work with Special Olympics and other
local organizations. Our members also volunteer to
tutor students and conduct toy/clothing drives
during the holiday seasons.
It is our obligation as an organization composed of
educated Latina women to educate others and to help
our respective communities. We do not limit our
involvement to the Latino community, instead we aim
to help all communities in need, and we participate
in causes that have the greatest impact on our
future generation. We hope that through our
involvement we can serve as role models of
excellence for others. |
