"NIELSEN MEDIA RESEARCH SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED TO YADIRA GARCIA"

New York-- June 1

Yadira Garcia, a student at New York University has been selected as one of two scholarship recipients to take part in a new certificate program offered through Nielsen Media Research. Jessica Mayorga, Interim Chief Executor of the Solidaridad Inspiración Amistad Community Foundation released a statement today congratulating Garcia on this honor. In the form of a broadcast, to the over 500 women who form Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha, Inc.- Garcia's sorority, she stated "On behalf of the National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations and the Solidaridad Inspiración Amistad Community Foundation, I am pleased to announce that Yadira Garcia (H. Trinitaria) has been selected as a recipient of a Nielsen Media Research scholarship to cover full tuition for the Nielsen Certificate in TV Audience Measurement Program at NYU this summer." Nielsen Media Research extended this opportunity to promising students of color through NALFO and asked the SIA Foundation directly to carry out the distribution of the scholarship. We are very pleased that one of our own has earned this opportunity.

The scholarship, in the amount of $2,500, covers full tuition and fees for this new certificate program. Nielsen Media Research and New York University’s School of Continuing and Professional Studies joined forces to offer this unique training in TV audience measurement. Nielsen Media Research made two scholarships awards available to outstanding students of color who believe they have what it takes to launch a successful career in media research or other related field.
