On May 1, 1998, the membership class known as "Sublime" officially became part of Hermandad de Sigma Iota Alpha, Inc. "Sublime" was one determined, proud Latina named Miguelina.

She took great pride in representing SIA at Hofstra University. She held a number of positions within the Zeta Chapter during her undergraduate years, including President, Secretary, and Community Service Chairwoman. While being a part of SIA was one of her many great accomplishments, she was also active in her community and church. She was proud of her Dominican heritage and of being a beautiful Latina.

In the Fall semester of 2003, tragedy struck our Hermandad. Miguelina Rodriguez, Hermana Clavel, passed away on September 8, 2003 due to complications related to her illness. Miguelina suffered from Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI), a form of brittle bone disease. She walked with the assistance of either a cane, crutches, or at certain times a wheelchair. In fact, she was the first Hermana to ever pledge while in a wheelchair. She is the first Hermana to be inducted into the Alpha Omega Chapter for deceased sisters by her pledge mother, Jennifer Dawson (Hermana Audaz) and her big sister Amber Lyons (Hermana Imprevisible) surrounded by family, friends, and her Hermanas.

She represented SIA proudly during her short time with us. She was our Hermana and our friend

Miguelina "Clavel" Rodriguez will forever be in our hearts.
